Deborah Tartell
Conductor & Musical Director
Deborah Tartell is the founding Conductor and Musical Director of the Shireinu Choir of Long Island, with almost 40 years of experience as a public school choral director, musical theater director, private voice and piano teacher. Deborah received her Bachelor of Music degree and an award and scholarship for excellence in student teaching from the University of Delaware, and did graduate work at the Britten-Pears School for Advanced Musical Studies in Aldeburgh, England. She conducted the renowned Moorestown High School Madrigal Singers, has taught vocal music in the prestigious Bronxville and Roslyn public school districts, and worked as Musical Director and orchestral pianist for the Drama Club at Great Neck North Middle School. Deborah served as a NYSSMA adjudicator; her private students have received leading rolls in school musical theater and opera productions and have accepted into All-State Chorus, All-County Chorus, and to conservatory programs at Juilliard and Manhattan School of Music.

Guy Brewer, Accompanist
Guy Brewer, Accompanist, is a native New Yorker, who has worked in various aspects of choral music. Mr. Brewer studied piano and majored in music theory at the Juilliard School of Music and studied organ, composition, and conducting at Yale University, where he directed the Yale Russian Chorus. Upon graduation, he served as accompanist for the Russian Chamber Chorus of New York and was later appointed Assistant Conductor. Mr. Brewer was awarded a national prize and a laureateship by the Republic of Georgia for his research and performance of Georgian folk music. He is presently Music Director of Temple Emanuel of Great Neck and accompanist of the Great Neck Choral Society. We welcomed him to the Shireinu Choir of Long Island family in 2021.
