Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Martin Lurther King Jr.

How special it was to combine our voices with the Free Will Baptist Church of Freeport Mass Choir. We honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., while raising funds for the Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center of Nassau County and the St. John’s Baptist Church of Westbury Food Pantry. Total Praise (Richard Smallwood with thanks to Sheldon Levin for supplying the Hebrew words).

Virtual Choir Project

Heal Us Now by Leon Sher - Premiered March 25, 2021
With in person rehearsals suspended for over a year, the Shireinu Choir of Long Island took on a pandemic project to create a virtual recording of "Heal Us Now," an appropriate selection for the times. With lyrics including We pray for healing of the body. We pray for healing of the soul. For strength of flesh and mind and spirit. We pray to once again be whole the song represents what many of us have experienced this past year while uplifting our spirits and bringing us together as a choir. |
Hear the Shireinu Choir of Long Island sing the beautiful song, Yesh Kochavim, featuring guest soloist Cantor Elizabeth Shammash.

There are stars up above so far away
we only see their light long long after the star itself is gone. And so it is with people that we loved, Their memories keep shining ever brightly Though their time with us is done. But the stars that light up the darkest night, These are the lights that guide us. As we live our days, these are the ways we remember, we remember. As we live our days, these are the ways we remember, we remember. |
